Description
Old Vienna
Sequence for flute (or clarinet or violin) and guitar based on three 19th Century Viennese songs,
interspersed with original yodels
1. O theures Erbsien + Jodel
("Erbsien" was a prison in Vienna, named after the principal food of the
prisoners (Erbsen = peas) - despite its upbeat character it is in fact a moralistic
song advising listeners to avoid crime and thereby avoid prison.
The same tune is also found as a students' drinking song; which came first, I wonder?
2. Servicerl + Jodel
A celebration of drinking and courting.
3. Mein Nachbarin und I + Jodel
A song about getting on well with the widow next door....
The zip file contains three separate zip files comprising pdfs of the versions for flute and guitar, clarinet and guitar and violin and guitar
The sound sample is an electronic preview, using the clarinet sound
